Family Owned & Operated Since 1978

A Note from Bill Zerrusen

People ask me what makes Three Z different. The honest answer is that we never set out to build something different—we just set out to do things the way our parents taught us, and we never stopped.

It Started with My Parents

Three Z Printing was founded in 1978 by my parents, James and Lorraine Zerrusen. They named it after their three sons—Dan, Bill, and Kurt. We’re the three Z’s.

My folks built this company on a simple foundation: work hard, treat people right, and trust that God will provide. That wasn’t a slogan to them. It was how they lived, and it was how they ran the business—how they treated their employees, their customers, and the next generation they were quietly preparing to lead it.

My mother, Lorraine, was the heart of all of it. She graduated valedictorian of Teutopolis High School in 1951, and she brought that same intelligence and conviction to everything she touched. For decades, she was our moral compass. We lost her in 2022, but I still feel her in this place every day. There’s a Bible open in our front foyer to one of her favorite verses, and you’ll find passages displayed throughout our plant—reminders of the values she lived by: stewardship, the dignity of work, and caring for one another. They aren’t decoration. They’re who we are.

Three Generations, One Set of Values

My brothers and I grew up in that family, and we carried what our parents taught us into the second generation of Three Z. Together, we built the company into a name people across the country could count on.

In 2015, Dan and Kurt retired and I took over as sole owner. But I never wanted Three Z to be a one-generation story. So I brought my sons—Matt, Neil, and Chad—into the business, the same way my parents once made room for us. Watching them lead has been one of the great joys of my life.

Today, that third generation is taking Three Z into the future—embracing new technology and new capabilities—while holding onto the things that have never changed: faith, family, hard work, and a genuine commitment to the people we serve.

More Than a Printer

We employ hundreds of people from Teutopolis and the towns around us, which makes us one of the largest employers in a pretty small community. I don’t take that lightly. The values my parents built this company on are the same ones that guide how we treat our team, our neighbors, and our customers.

I’ve always thought of Three Z as a family—and our customers are part of that extended family. That’s been true since 1978, and as long as I have anything to say about it, it always will be.

The Next Generation of Three Z Printing

It is our goal to continue building upon the great foundation our father has built. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve.
